Belfast Resilience is a Local Resilience Forum (LRF) responsible for organising emergency plans for the Belfast City Council area. It is made up of representatives of 50 different organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
Our aim is to promote integrated Major Incident Planning for the entire city. We will facilitate the command, control and communication between all agencies involved, by developing contacts with key personnel and links to other strategic groups such as the Civil Contingencies Group Northern Ireland.
Belfast Resilience is planning and preparing emergency plans for major disasters, whether man-made or natural, such as
- Severe Weather
- Fire
- Explosions from gas pipelines
- Industrial accidents releasing large amounts of toxic chemicals
- Major transport accidents
One of our successes has been bringing together the commitment and knowledge of a wide and diverse group of people and organisations. There is a need for a co-ordinated approach to major emergencies, beyond that offered by the emergency services.
Steering Group
The Belfast Resilience Steering Group co-ordinates the working groups and provides the overall strategy of the emergency plan.
